Have some questions? They might be here! If not you can reach us at brooke@brookesmusicschool.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are located at 30 Global Road Neerabup.
We have early childhood class, Tunie Tots, for kids aged 2-5, private lessons, groups and workshops for 5+, including adults!
You will need your own instrument to practice on at home, but we do have instruments available for use during lessons and trials.
Many people learn at different rates, usually you will be able to play a simple tune at the end of your first few lessons, but the most important factor to learning an instrument is practice! The more you practice the better you will get, and the more advanced songs you'll be able to sing or play.
Your teacher will be able to answer this question, as it is different for every person! Generally, 30 minutes of practice, 5 days a week is ideal. Young children may need to start with 10-15 minutes.
Yes! We have many adult students. There is no age limit to music, if you have a desire to learn then it is worth a try. Learning an instrument is a long process however, you won't sound like Mozart at the end of your first week!
We primarily use the AMEB (Australian Music Examination Board) exams, and although we do not hold the exams in the school, we do prep students for exams, we also can help with booking for the exam and can do mock exams.
Depending on your teacher they may have experience with other exams as well, ABRSM or Trinity for example.
Reading music can be one of the hardest parts of learning an instrument, although it may seem like your time would be better spent memorizing songs, reading music is very important, it will make learning music in the future much easier, give you a deeper understanding of the music you're playing, and will make things much easier if you ever play music with others!
Beginners usually only need 30 minute lessons. Once you reach a level where you cannot cover all of your material in a lesson then you can extend to 45 or 60 minutes.
Adults may also want to have longer lessons and we also offer 15 minute lessons for young kids who may not be able to concentrate for a full half hour.
Yes! We offer online lessons through Zoom.
No, we only teach out of our studio, but we do offer online lessons which can be done from your home.
If you need to cancel your lesson for any reason, we require a minimum of 24 hours notice for private lessons and you will receive a lesson credit, but late or no notice you will still be charged. You can also request your lesson to be online any time before your lesson starts, so long as you're already set up!
For groups we will try to do a makeup of a similar class, but if one isn't available then we don't offer credits for group lessons.
You can book in for lessons by phone, email, booking online, or filling out a contact form.
